The “Goldstein Goren Center for Israel Studies” at the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Political Science invites scholars conducting research on any aspect of Holocaust studies and Jewish/Romanian related topics to submit proposals for individual papers and organized panels for the 2016 SCOPE annual international conference. Proposals relating to the main conference theme are of particular interest. 

The conference will address the above issues from a broad range of political, cultural, religious, social, and economic perspectives. Among the themes to be addressed are: history, memory and amnesia, the processes of democratization, the process of identity-building. Suggested topics might include but should not be restricted to: The Resurgence of anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial in Romania and Central and Eastern Europe after the EU integration, Religion, Politics and Political religions; The Shaping of Memory and Identity; Conflict, Discourse and Perceptions in Romania Israel, Security Dilemmas and Decision Making Processes in 1941 and challenges in understanding them at the turn of the 21st Century.
